JAM GUERRA

Scratch, scratch, scratch different each time.

My primary discipline area is printmaking, and drypoint is a process that I have grown to appreciate. I derive a great sense of satisfaction from the process itself, the gradual layering of line over line, scratch over scratch, and the control it gives me over the finished product.

I find that my works evolve through careful planning and pre-visualisation and often work from old photographs, photographic studies or preliminary drawings.

Recently I have been exploring old photographs, past memories, experiences and stories passed on by others. These concepts are then transposed into various preliminary drawings which are then recreated using thedrypoint process. The images in this series are dark, mysterious, and eerie, and are greatly detailed to enhance the surreal themes.
